What is the difference between Heather and Solid apparel?

Have you heard the term "Heather" when talking about apparel? What the heck is a heather?!
Well, Heather in apparel is when gray pieces of fabric are woven in with another color. If you look closely at the images below, the first is a heathered royal tee, the second is a solid blue long sleeve tee.
As you can see there is a mix of fibers within the apparel to give it a defined and multi-leveled look.
The solid blue long sleeve does not contain any gray fabric, so the monochromatic look offers a simple and sleek single dimensional appeal.
